zaugg.ca is my domain name. This infrequently updated website is the space I've created for myself on the internet. Here I intend to share all of my weird, wacky, and wonderful interests and hyper-fixations. Due to my lack of time and energy, it's sparce on information for now and will likely get updated as I feel like (not very often). To start, I have links about my experience in the performing arts as a technical theatre technician and about my home lab where I try to self-host as much as possible and learn lots about computers and technology.
I am a graduate of Algonquin College's Electrical Engineering Technology program (2019) and am currently employeed by Canadian Nuclear Laboratories at their Chalk River Laboratory. I work in non-destructive evaluation, mainly building instrumentation and control systems for inspecting assorted nuclear and non-nuclear components. I am also a qualified Eddy-Current inspector and ocasionally get sucked into basic research projects too. By the very nature of where I work and what I do I am unlikely to share anything nuclear related on this website, but we'll see how it goes.
In addition to being a voulenteer theatre tech, hosting my own home lab, working at a nuclear research facility, and being qualified to perform NDE, I also am a public transit enthusiast (and advocate!), frequently riding the rails in various cities I travel to. Perhaps someday I'll add a public transit section to the website.
Since I live in Deep River, this website is going to have an upper Ottawa valley twist to it. I've made it myself in HTML/CSS so the loading times are fast, and although it is hosted in a city, I want fast loading times for friends with poor internet connections (we don't get good internet where I am). A lot of the theatre tech section of the website will be centered around arts in the upper ottawa valley too. Since I am only two hours away from the City of Ottawa (silicon valley north) and since I work in a STEM field doing R&D, the home lab section will be high-tech enough and I am still able to get hardware to test and review on my servers.
Well, that's all I want to rant about for now.
